Well I'm not REALLY gonna "shoot a senior" but photographing my niece, Rachael, was a blast! I originally found this old church on fellow photog, Mark Eric's site. He had scoped it out for a bride he was photographing and was so kind to let me know where it was at! Sooo Rach, Aleea and I hopped in the car and drove 2 long hours down to Thibodeaux, LA to this beautiful 100+ year old chapel! Well, u all know me..something has GOT to happen!!! First off..u couldn't get into the church through the doors so we had to climb in through a window to get in..Rachael and Aleea scoot right on in..me?... I fell and hit my ..well ..lets jus say I fell..lol and screamed out a profanity to which i get fussed at by Aleea because we are after all IN A CHURCH ( please forgive me)...Well a few minutes later, I'm moving one of the lights and shock my fool self somehow (ok I may have deserved that)..THEN I'm walking and fall straight through the floor and skin my sheen up (again please forgive me for putting a hole in ur floor). So we r shooting and Aleea is shooting and I'm so excited at the shots we are getting when I look down and see a board with nails sticking up..."hmmm" I say.".better turn that over before my clumsy butt steps on it"...so I do...and the next thing I know..its flipped over and my shoe ...is stuck....on a NAIL! What....ugh....so I FLIP it BACK over..only to trip...my shoe flies one way...I kick the board over with the other foot and step directly ON THE NAIL! R U KIDDING ME! So what does Aleea say?... "Mom...u shouldn't have said that bad word"!!... Is it illegal to choke ur kid in cajun country Well, anyhow..I made it out alive, had to get a tetnus shot..( grateful it wasn't in ma booty..lol) and came home with some INCREDIBLE images!!

Dani takes AH-Mazing photos of EVERTHING but I really luv her lingere shots and have always wanted to do some for Rich. Well we all know that I've gained my share of poundage here lately and was in no way shape or form gonna be talked into doing any anytime soon, but Dani is very strong willed..and she won. Now I am very shy and super uncomfortable with my self but it didnt take long and I was having a blast!!! So If I can do it U CAN TOO!!!! Well, last night they made it OFFICIAL! With my fav color in the world, turquoise, and brown..they put this event down in style!

I'm not sure what the significance was but her parents surprised them with snow on their first dance!

Scooter and Brittani have been in love, like, FOREVER and now it is official!!! They celebrated their love in a big way by setting off fireworks and saying I do on July 4th! Although they did not theme the wedding (boo-hoo)it was still beautiful and full of gorgeous details! I am so proud for this family and I wish you both a lifetime full of love and happiness!!!

Have u ever just made a connection with someone on the phone even though u had never met? Well every now and then it happens to me and this time it was with Kimberly! I knew from the moment I spoke with her that we would be a great fit! She has a bubbly personality and girl after my own heart!!! I had the great privilege today of shooting her engagement photos with her handsome, TALL fiance` Scott! He likes to sing karaoke...especially Hootie and the Blowfish songs (That's how he met Kimberly :)lol ) Scott is a totally nice guy and I can NOT wait to shoot their wedding in New Orleans soon!!!

And this is the mom of the bride!! She LOVES animals and was such a great help with the couples first puppy Palmer!!! And she has that future son-in-law wrapped around her finger already! :)

Andrew and Breanne were married at the La Maison in Gautier MS. I haven't seen it rain that hard in a while and with this being an outdoor wedding, I was totally bummed to not get to use this beautiful location to its fullest. Well I guess Mother Nature decided to smile on us because 45 minutes before the wedding the sun came out and a gentle breeze blew and this wonderful couple tied the knot under some magnificant oaks!! I met Allison a few years back when I done her Senior portraits. She struck me with her attitude and beauty. A lady in every since of the word. So when i the got the call that she was getting married, I was jumping stumps!!! But in true Christian Burge Photography Fashion, this shoot did NOT go down without a hitch!!!!! I had one of the CRAZIEST experiences that I have ever had with this couple!!! I have always went with the moto of shoot first ask questions later. This has worked just fine for me in the past few years. Well, I've met my match!!! We pulled up at this old barn that I have had my eye on for a few years now...as u can see we got some amazing shots! For my last few shots I decided to have my couple sit in the tall grass when ALL OF A SUDDEN this old man with a large hat started pulling up in a lawnmower..as I caught sight of him I lifted my camera to let him know I meant no harm. He never even looked at me but kicked it into high gear and was heading straight for BJ on the ground. Needless to say this old man was screaming and hollerin' and I'm tryin' to explain. Still the old man never even looks at me. So at this point I'm looking in the back end of his lawnmower checking out the pitch forks, feelin like I'm in a scene from deliverance....I'm backing up telling the couple to lets just leave....The old man starts chasing them on the lawnmower to the car. Poor Allison is looking at me like she is TOTALLY freaked and BJ turns and karate kicks the lawnmower and says "Quit chasing us with that thing" the old man lunges for BJ's arm, barely misses.and screams that"I'll do what ever I want on my own land!!". BJ replies" Not if your going toward my girl!" .The old man screams that he should slap BJ's jaws...BJ slides into the car and we drive off...in my rear view mirror the old man chases us on the road as we speed off......WOW!!!!!

Brennet and I had a wonderful time tracing all over Picayune shooting his senior portraits! It sometimes takes a while to make a connection with clients in order to correctly portray them as their true self..but in this case, Brennet and I made immediate friends! He has a great since of style and said no to nothing I suggested, which I Love!! Brennet plans to go for radiology at PRCC , then he plans to attend Indiana Bible College. I wish you all the luck in the world!

This is Reid and Amber and they are engaged!!! I have been knowing Amber for quite some time now and she has always been such a good gurl! I didn't meet Reid until the day of these pictures but he is equally nice! Reid was not sure what to expect but relaxed right away as I made him do hearts and jump in the air and dance and get his butt grabbed and get kissed(which he didn't seem to bothered by that lol)!!! Chris and Carla ~ Wedding

Well I am probably going to be in BIG trouble for skipping a few post that I was suppose to make for other people...but I really am in love with these images from the wedding I shot in Duck, NC for Chris and Carla. So I will post these first!

This first picture is not from the wedding but from the night before as they practiced their AMAZING first dance that they had been taking classes for to surprise everyone. Well everyone was surprised and it was flawless. This picture sreamed passion so It is one of my favs!

It rained the day of the wedding after we got through with the brides pre pics....so we ended up having to move everything back to the HUGE mansion for an indoor wedding! So the day after we went back to get some photos that we didn't get!(I fixed her hair..I am so proud lol)

We have always said that Aleea looked and acted like Carla....I think we were right!!!

Daryll and Jennifer are Married!!!

This is probably going to be the longest post I have ever done...but this was one of the funnest weddings that I have ever shot! Another thing that made this day special was the fact that my 12 year old daughter came with me and shot along side of me all day...I was stunned at the beautiful images she helped capture...the 2nd to last picture in front of the cathedral was done by her!!! You go Aleea!!!!!This wonderful ,carefree couple, Darryl and Jennifer got married this past Valentines Day at Jackson Square in New Orleans,La!
I found Darryl to be very quiet but steadfast and sure of his love for Jennifer. He was very sure of his self and seemed to have no hesitance in marrying his beautiful Jennifer! Now Jennifer although very much in love, was as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof! lol It took a lil while before the wedding before she would even allow me to shoot pictures....but finally I snuck up on her in a hallway adjusting makeup. Jennifer was a vision with the beautiful light spilling onto her from the door in the dark space of this hallway.....now i may seem a little bias in this post because most of the images are of her by herself (Somehow I don't think that Darryl will care!!!!) but she was so kind and very special and BEAUTIFUL!!!
After shooting the wedding we left and joined the krewe of Shangri~La's parade and the bride and groom rode in the parade!! What a day! Thanks so much guys for letting me tag along on a very special day! I will never forget You!!!!

Last year I had received one of the cruelest, meanest comments on my blog that I have ever received in my career. The jist of this email was that this person( a coward who did not leave their name) did not like my work and was not impressed with my work ethic and did not like me as a person...and went on to say that they would see me out of business by the end of the year. Well....I am still here...and stronger than ever! My business has went to places I never dreamed and I have a few projects in the works that I am very proud of!! Did your comment hurt my feelings??? My idea is to go into new Orleans for just a "couples shoot"and do a photoshoot with the young lady completely oblivious to our plans......and at the right moment we will drop a knee and spring a ring on her and capture it all! With me being such a romantic...I will do this for free for the 1st person who calls and sets it up!!!!!!! ***** Let me make myself clearer.......I know this has been done many times before by other photogs...I am simply saying that I am the first in my area to think to do this and I don't want some one to steal my idea because I posted it and run with it . Yes!! I know that it's been a while since I blogged but it has been soooo busy around here with the holidays and Christmas portraits! But I am going to try and put a few post on here today!!

There are so many great things I can say about Sable!!! She is the secretary here at Christian Burge Photography and keeps me organized AND does all of my ordering and designs our popular 12x12 books!!! Sable is also a great friend and I am honored to have her in my life!!! I love ya gurl! and U to James...I guess.lol

James and Sable just celebrated their 1st Anniversary!!! Congrats!!! We wanted to do some pics with their top of their cake. Sable was very dissatisfied with her wedding pictures that someone else had done for her so it was important to her to get some great anniversary pics! Word to the wise for you brides...cheaper is not always better!!! with all of the new"photographers" coming in the area here are a few tips when choosing a photog.......
#1 ask to see a complete wedding slideshow..not just a few of their best images.
#2 Also ask for references of past brides. I have been referred to brides in Texas and North Carolina because of my track record with my satisfied past clients.
#3 Ask them to demonstrate to you their knowledge of using their camera in manual mode. If they can only shoot in auto they will be limited in the skills necessary to capture your day with whatever lighting is there at the wedding site.

Every photographer has to start somewhere...I AM NOT beating up on the new guys but there is only one chance to get it right with a wedding SO take a chance on a portrait session not your wedding regardless if u use me or another Photographer!!!

To say that we had a blast on this shoot today is a total understatement!!!! This lovely gurl who put up with me all day is Samantha! She is the sister of Sable my assistant! We went to several locations, braved the rain, ate lunch and alomost got pulled over by a cop(I'll explain that one in a minute!! We ran down the middle of the road on Canal and went into PJ's for a coffee!! Whew what a Day!!! OF FUN!!!!!

Ok!! This is why I almost got pulled over...for you that know me...this is no surprise but for you that don't...I am a TOTAL GOOBER!! For NO reason at all I felt like hanging out the window like a dog...well the cop saw me...gave me a warning siren and turned around...followed me a little ways and then turned around to pass me again after I had pulled over.....I think I learned my lesson!! But maybe not...lol

And then there's Sable!! Trying to make her sister laugh...let's just say it worked!!!!

Adam and Ashlea brought their 3 BEAUTIFUL daughters Makayla, Layken and Kadance today to start us off on our Fall Special! What a way to get started!!! Let me introduce you!

This is Makayla very mature and such a little mommy. And she has hair to die for!!!

Then we have Kadance! This young lady was a ham and a camera hog from the moment i met her! I asked to keep her...but sadly they said no! Good choice! lol

Last but CERTAINLY not least we have Layken....She was very quiet when I first met her but I soon found out that she was very outspoken when I kept instructing her older sister to help Cadence, she let me know that she was capable as well! You are LOVELY and sweet!!!

I am absolutely LOVING being an aunt!!! Ethan and Dawson or the newest editions to our family and they are sons of Shawn and Deborah. My newest nephew is Dawson, who I got to babysit the other day!
